Introducing Kybella The Woodlands-Spring – the end to the Double Chin
Kybella, (deoxycholic acid) the first and only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment to be used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin commonly known as a double chin.
How Does Kybella Work?
Deoxycholic Acid is a naturally-occurring molecule found in the humans which normally aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Science has discovered that once injected into the submental fat beneath the chin, Kybella causes the destruction of the localized fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells can longer store or accumulate fat thus creating a trimmer neck line.
How Long Do Kybella Results Last?
When injected Kybella causes the destruction of the fat cell. As such after the aesthetic response is achieved no retreatment is expected.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Based on your desired chin profile, Rivela Plastic Surgery will customize the number of treatments which will be right for you. You will be given a series of injections each treatment session, which will normally be spaced out a month apart. Many patients experience visible contouring of their chin profile in two to four sessions.
Will I Experience Side Effects?
The safety profile of Kybella is well characterized by it’s manufacturer. The most common side effects are swelling, reddness, bruising and slight pain at the injection side with occasional numbness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. Less common side can include trouble swallowing and nerve injury to the jaw which can cause some facial muscle weakness or an uneven smile.
